Literature Text

Once upon a time there was a sleepy little town called Gravity Falls, Oregon.

It was a pretty average place, with average inhabitants and average buildings and all that. But the secrets and mysteries that lay beneath the surface of the town were anything but average. You might think your hometown has cool stuff, but your hometown ain’t nothing compared to Gravity Falls. I’m not kidding. That town has some weird crap in it.
The people of Gravity Falls went about their usual daily business, walking around, talking, completely unaware that a terrible monster lurked in their midst.
This horrible, dreadful beast lived at the edge of town, in a small cozy house that had just been built. For she had just moved into town, and the citizens were in a buzz about the new arrival.
Though she had not yet shown her face, rumors were already circulating about her. They say that she was in her teens, maybe about 15 or 16, and that she had just moved out of her parent’s house. They say that she had long black hair and yellow eyes. Certainly a strange appearance, but nothing the town wasn’t used to at this point.

The new girl’s name was Selene, and she had a very important secret.

The night after Selene moved in, it seemed like hours before the townspeople shut up their gossiping mouths and went to sleep. The town was dead quiet; Grunkle Stan’s snores were the only thing penetrating the darkness. Only one soul was not awake: that was of course the mystery girl, Selene. She lay awake in her bed, staring out the window at the moon. She knew exactly what was going to happen. It shouldn’t be long now. She had gone through this every night before.
The moon was bright and clear tonight. At last the clouds moved aside, showing it in all its glory. And then the transformation began.
Selene felt her hair grow longer; fur grew on her arms and legs and chest, sharp teeth increased in size as her face grew longer.

She was a werewolf!

Heading over to the window, she stared again at the huge moon, and let out a long, low howl. With a great leap she bounded out the window and headed for the town.
“Oh no,” Selene thought to herself. “This isn’t good! I have to get control of myself before I hurt somebody!”
As she tried to turn back, she accidentally knocked over a fence. Then she crushed the sidewalk pavement with her big paws. In her efforts to get away she only seemed to cause more destruction.
Half the town was in ruins by the time Selene made it back home. She hadn’t meant to cause so much trouble. It wasn’t her fault that her body was so big and powerful. It wasn’t her fault that she was a werewolf.
Like a heavenly light, the sun rose as dawn arrived. As soon as she was touched by the sunlight, the fur disappeared, her teeth shrunk and she became a human girl again. Just a normal human girl.

“Haha! Will you get a load of this!” Grunkle Stan laughed as Dipper and Mabel came to breakfast.
“Some punk vandalized the town last night!” said Grunkle Stan, pointing to a picture on his newspaper. “Knocked down some stuff and tore up half the sidewalk! Whoever the guy is, they must be like a bodybuilder or something, to tear up cement like that! But the idiots at the news couldn’t even get a good picture!”
The picture on the newspaper showed the destroyed sidewalk as well as a large shape over it.
Dipper looked at the picture closely. “Wait a second,” he muttered. “I’ve seen this before! Can I have that picture?”
“Sure, knock yourself out,” said Stan as he handed over the newspaper and started eating his pancakes.
“What is it, Dipper?” Mabel asked as her brother ran past her.
“I think I’ve seen something like this in the journal,” said Dipper quietly. “It could be trouble.”
“Can I have your pancakes then?” said Mabel.
“Save some for me!” Dipper shouted as he rushed up the stairs.
As soon as he was in his room the boy took out the journal with the number three on it and flipped through the pages.
“C’mon, where is it…” he murmured. “Ah! Here we go!”
On this page there was a picture of a terrible beast with long claws and teeth crouching over a piece of meat. The shape of it was nearly identical to the one in the newspaper.
“Werewolves are ferocious animals,” Dipper read aloud from the book. “During the day they look like normal people, but at night they transform and wreak havoc. It is difficult for a werewolf to control themselves at this time. Their only known weakness is the first sunlight of dawn, which turns them back into human. However—
“Dipper! I brought your pancakes!”
Dipper looked up as Mabel came in with a plate of pancakes.
“I decorated them just for you!” she sang as she set the plate in front of him. The pancakes were covered in glitter and it looked like she had drawn a portrait of him in syrup.
Dipper sighed. “Thanks, Mabel.”
Mabel smiled wide. “The glitter is edible.”

That evening, the townspeople’s minds were diverted from the new girl to talk about the vandal. The police officers had roped off the damaged parts from the people who crowded to see them. They were very excited. In their eyes, nothing ever happened in their town and they were always ready to pounce on something new.
Selene, the werewolf responsible for the damage, huddled in her room, clutching the newspaper tightly.
“Oh, no,” she said to herself. “I’m such an idiot, letting myself get away. At least I didn’t hurt anybody! Now the whole town will be suspicious of me! I came here to start a new life, but what if they run me out like the last town did? I’ll have nowhere to go! Oh, I hate being a werewolf! No one ever likes me, and I can’t make friends ‘cause I’m so scared I’ll hurt them! What do I do…?”
As she spoke tears ran down her cheeks, but she made no effort to stop them.
“I’ll just have to control myself tonight,” she told herself determinedly. “I know! I’ll run into the forest. Surely there’s no one there, and I won’t cause damage or hurt anyone. Good!”
She leaned against the wall. She was exhausted from last night’s events, so she slipped down the stairs to the kitchen to make some coffee.
Selene was about to take a sip of the hot liquid when something white caught her eye. She leaned back and saw something white in the coffee! It looked round. Suddenly the white thing turned and a black line appeared on it. It blinked. It was an eyeball!
Selene shrieked and dropped the cup. The eyeball floated upwards into the air. It stared at her as pieces formed around it, creating a triangle.
The weird triangle creature had one eye, a hat, and a bowtie. “Hiya, kid!” he said to her. “How ya doing?”
Selene stared at him. She had never seen anything so weird in her entire life. “What the hell?!” she cried, stepping back.
“Hey, you shouldn’t be scared!” said the stranger. “Actually, wait. You should be scared. Like, really scared. But that doesn’t matter! Nice to meet ya, Selene!”
“How do you know my name?” Selene asked nervously.
“I know a lot of things!” said the stranger. “The name’s Bill Cipher.”
“Um…well…it’s nice to meet you,” said Selene. “Now please tell me what you were doing in my coffee.”
“Well, between you and me…” he put his arm around Selene’s shoulder. “I heard you have a little pest problem~”
Selene gasped. “Y-You know about that?”
“Are you deaf?” Bill asked as he poked his finger through Selene’s ear. It came out the other ear. “Didn’t I just tell you I know everything?”
“Oh…yeah…” Selene looked down.
“And what’s more, I can tell ya how to get rid of that problem,” Bill continued.
“How? It’s impossible.”
“Not exactly. You see, there’s this book I want. It’s all about big, horrible people like you. It might have something on how to cure your curse.”
“Really?! Oh, that’s great! Where is this book?!”
“Ah, ah, ah! Not so fast. I’ll get this book for you, but I’ll need your help.”
“I’ll do anything!”
“That’s what I like to hear,” Bill’s eye glowed blue. “So, you do me this one itsy bitty tiny favor, and I’ll get you the cure to your werewolf-ism. We got a deal?”
Selene looked over the triangle. She didn’t know whether to trust him or not.
“I….I dunno….I mean…I don’t even know you. And what is this favor you want anyway? How did you know about my—
“Kid, you ask too many questions!” Bill snapped. “Don’t you want to be normal again? Don’t you want to have actual friends?”
“Well, I…um…”
“Face it, kid, you’re gonna be a monster for the rest of your life if this continues. Do you wanna keep being a monster? Do you wanna keep being rejected, and run out of town, and yelled at, and all alone?”
“I’m not a monster,” Selene mumbled. “Okay, fine. It’s a deal.”

They shook hands.
Dammit, Bill, why are you such a creep and yet so freaking lovable?!

In case you were wondering, the Selene in this story is not my OC. She just has the same name because A. I'm lazy and B. It kinda fit with the whole werewolf thing.

Yay, my first Gravity Falls fanfiction! Woo!

In this story, Dipper and Mabel discover a terrible werewolf is terrorizing the town! Or is she? The truth is Selene is just a lonely little girl who can't make friends because of her...um...werewolf-ism. But things get a little spicy when a certain dorito looking for a certain book appears to ask her for something! Will this deal have deadly consequences?

Uh...have you seen this show?!

Of course it will!!! :D

This story was inspired by Season 2, episode 4, "The Sock Puppet Opera." I think that's what it was called. Yeah. Second part coming soon.

Gravity Falls belongs to  Disney
